2019 Pre-season and Season Information

 
Updated Calendar 
We have updated the pre-season calendar to adjust for SWHL bringing Round 1 forward and to include the trial information which although not yet finalised is becoming more certain.

February

Please note that coaches will be assessing players at training and providing feedback to selectors so, although not mandatory, if you have aspirations for a particular team this season I recommend that you attend.

Tuesday 5th – Pre-season training split into two squads (2, 3, 4) and (5, 6, 7). 
Tuesday 12th – Pre-season training split into two squads (2, 3, 4) and (5, 6, 7)
Tuesday 19th – Pre-season training split into three squads (2 and 3), (4 and 5) and (6 and 7)
Tuesday 26th – Internal trials 6.45 to 9pm. 
Thursday 28th – Selectors to finalise selections and selections released via Newsletter.

March

Sunday 3rd – External trial UNSW. 
Tuesday 5th – Training in teams
Thursday 7th – Selectors to finalise selections. Release via newsletter.
Sunday 10th – External trial Sydney Uni
Tuesday 12th – Training in teams. 
Thursday 7th – Selectors to finalise selections. Release via newsletter.
Sunday 17th – External trial MosHarbour and (tbc) Moorebank (1st and 2nd grades).
Tuesday 19th – Training in teams.
Thursday 21st – Selectors to finalise selections. Release via newsletter.
Sunday 24th – External trial GNS and MAC Uni
Tuesday 26th – Training in teams.
Thursday 28th – Selectors to finalise selections. Release via newsletter.
Sunday 31st – SWHL Round 1

April

Tuesday 2 — Team training (continues every Tuesday)
Saturday 6 – Ryde New Players Evening and Club Day vs. Sydney Uni (involving 1st and 2nd grade) (TBC by SWHL and SHA)
Sunday 7 – SWHL and Sydney North (TBC) competitions begin 
Wednesday 10 – SWHL Masters Div 1 and 2 competitions begin
Monday 15 – SWHL Masters Div 3 and 4 competitions begin

Sydney Women’s Hockey League (SWHL) Competition

SWHL is the strongest competition in New South Wales and caters for elite players through to veterans, as well as juniors progressing through the ranks. Currently RHH fields five teams in this competition. Our teams play in Metro League divisions 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. The competition is held on Sundays and games can be held from 9am-7.30pm. The majority of games are played at Olympic Park (Homebush) while the remaining games may be held at Ryde, Cintra (Concord), Bankstown or Moorebank. All games are held on synthetic water based turf with the season running from mid April – mid September.

Sydney North Women’s Hockey Association (SNORTH) Competition

In 2018 Ryde fielded two teams in the Sydney North competition, being our 6th and 7th grade sides.

The SNWHA competition is a local competition suitable for those new to hockey through to those who are looking for a local competitive game. All games are played on Sundays and venues include Keith Thompson Hockey Complex (our home turf), Cintra (Concord), Pennant Hills Park and Ku-ring-gai Hockey Centre. The games are held on synthetic water based turf with the season running from mid April – mid September.

Summer Competition & Indoor Hockey

For those who cant get enough of their hockey in the off season or who wish to enjoy a hit around with friends and family, Ryde also regularly enters teams in to both inter and intra-club summer competitions as well as indoor hockey competitions. Keep an eye on the news section of this webpage and our facebook page for more information.

 

Training

Training is held at Keith Thompson Hockey Complex, our home turf in North Ryde.To kick start our training calendar pre-season fitness commences late January. Training times are yet to be confirmed for 2019.
