Mens

The men started the final series with 5 teams and at the end of the weekend 4 teams are still in the hunt.
1st Grade came out of the blocks early against St George and at the end
of the first 35 mins were 4-1 ahead… but St George mounted a spirited
challenge in the second half and the game went down to the wire with
Ryde defending hard in the last 10 mins to hold them out and finish 5-4.

5th Grade took the game into extra time with only 40 seconds to spare
but were desperately unlucky to concede a goal in the final few seconds
of overtime to finish the year with a 2-3 result.

If you look up ‘snatching victory from the jaws of defeat’ you might read “see the 6th Grade semi final”
Behind 0-1 in regular time with less than 20 seconds remaining they
evened up the score to 1-1 thanks to an penalty corner after the final
siren sending the match to over time.  Overtime came and went and then
into the new 1v1’s.   With 3 out of 5 attempts taken by both sides taken
Ryde was behind by 2 but thanks to some great keeping and attacking
skill levelled things back up to 2 each.  Then into sudden death 1v1.
Ryde shooting second.  Cookie kept saving them, but it was on the 3rd
round that Jack Cullen slotted the winner to finally end the game and
reserve a space in the Grand Final in 2 weeks time.

8th grade and 9th grade were competing in the major semis our at Pennant
Hills and both had tough encounters going down 0-2 and 0-3 respectively
and duly exercising their privilege to play again in the preliminary
finals this weekend.
