RHH Women’s 1st Grade win Hunter Cup

Ryde Hunters
Hill Hockey Club has once again beaten all comers and taken out the
Power Hunter Cup. The tournament is held at the Newcastle Hockey Centre
in the shadows of the Hunter Stadium each year. Ryde Hunters Hill have
been triumphant for the past 3 years in the men’s division but this year
they won the women’s Cup.

This was the first year that Ryde Hunters
Hill sent their top grade Women to compete and they returned undefeated
champions. They faced teams from the Newcastle region as well as
opponents from Canberra and Sydney. Although the squad was reduced
through injury the team performed courageously to complete the
tournament without conceding a single goal.

Coach
John Cullen was delighted with the tenacity shown by the athletes and
sees this as an important step in this season’s preparation. Team
captain, Bec Buchanan also paid tribute to her team mates for their
efforts and was thankful to the organisers and sponsors for their
support of the tournament.  Ryde are also keen to maintain their winning
form when they defend their crown next year!
