Club Statement re COVID-19 and the potential start of the season
Hockey NSW has today recommended a return date of 1 July 2020 for community hockey training and a potential competition return date of 18 July 2020. This decision is in line with other community sports. Ryde Hunters hill District Hockey Club supports the recommendation of Hockey NSW. The return date is subject to the status of public health restrictions and government advice.
There are a number of matters that flow from Hockey NSW’s decision.
Competition start date: all competition managers (i.e. SHA, SWHL, North Area) will now look to revise the 2020 season. There will need to be consideration of a sufficient training and preparation period following 1 July 2020 prior to competitions starting and all competitions may not start on 18 July. The club will make submissions through its delegates and advise members accordingly when competitions managers release the revised schedule.
Fees: the club will assess the information provided by both Hockey NSW and NWSHA about those association fees that are paid by members (addressing registration and insurance) through NWSHA. The club will update members on this issues and also club fees.
Training: the club will also advise members on any revisions to training schedules. Please note that the recommendation permits 1 July 2020 return to training. The recommendation does not permit team training to commence prior to this date.
We appreciate that members will be looking for further detail on ‘next steps’. Please be assured that the committee will be addressing these matters and working with competition managers so that we can provide precise information to members.
