Ryde Women’s Hockey 2017

Dear Players and Supporters,

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and are looking forward to a great year of Hockey at our fantastic Ryde Club.

We look toward 2017 with a new Club President Glen Castensen and wish him very well in this role.

Maurie Dawson has decided to take a break from the Presidency. Maurie commenced in the Presidency role in 1985 and over this period was a wonderful asset to the club and always a great supporter of Women’s hockey.

In 2017 I will continue as Women’s President and have enlisted the help of number of members to help make it a great year.

Kylie Myers, Pippa Quilty, Jess Dobbin, Trudy Green and Shelly Pole will all help out this year in various supporting capacities for the Women’s club.

In addition I am excited to advise that we have a number of players from the Women’s Club taking on important roles in the running of the Ryde Hockey Club.

Pippa Quilty is now the Sydney North Master’s Coordinator
Shelly Pole will take on the role of Media Coordinator along with Billy Shaw from the Men’s Club

Dani Colubriale and Jess White will take on the role of Function and Events Coordinators for the whole of Ryde Club and will be working closely with our Men’s and Juniors clubs to provide a great calendar of social events for 2017

Competitions for 2017

SWHL: We will be entering teams in ML1, ML2,ML3, ML4 and ML6. These will be our 1^st,2^nd,3^rd 4^th and 5^th Grade teams.

SYDNEY NORTH: We will have 2 teams entered in the Sydney North Competition. These will be our 6^th and 7^th grade teams.

SWHL MASTERS: Under the banner of Sydney North there will be one Masters Team entered in the Division 2 level. Trials for Masters will be held the evening of Friday 3 February. Please contact Pippa Quilty at pquilty111@gmail.com

Competition Dates 2017

SWHL Round 1: 2^nd April 2017

Final series 3^rd (SF), 10^th (F) and 17^th Sept (GF).

Sydney North Round 1: TBC
SWHL Masters Competition: 10^th April (Div 3 & 4) and 12^th April (Div 1 & 2)

Final series 28^th Aug (Div 3 &4 SF) and 30^th Aug (Div 1 & 2 SF), 4^th Sept (Finals – all divisions) and 13^th Sept (GF – all divisions).

Pre-Season Dates:

1^st Grade Squad: All dates and events for 1^st grade squad are commencing 1 February 2017. If you have any questions in regards to 1^st grade squad please contact Tim Collier at tim.collier@rydehockey.com.au ASAP.

In conjunction with 1^st Grade training Gina Rees will be running a separate development squad. If you would like to be involved and believe you have the ability for this please do not hesitate to contact Gina Rees at rees.gina@gmail.com

2nd to 7^th grade: Fun Fitness at Ryde Hockey Field- a combination of some fitness and hockey will be run each Tuesday 7 February 2017- from 8 to 9pm. Ben Willson will be running the sessions. These sessions are not compulsory and will only go ahead if a good amount of interest is shown. Please contact Ben Willson at willson.bp@gmail.com if you would like to be part of the “Fun Fitness” sessions.

Trial Dates

Internal Trials: Sunday 26 February and Sunday 12 March 2017-Ryde Hockey Field

External Trials: against other clubs Sunday 19 March and 26 March 2017-Ryde Hockey Field
